Legger is a native macOS plain-text editor and a proper replacement for Notepad. Tabs, find and replace, encoding detection, and autosave with crash recovery, in a clean, sandboxed app that keeps everything on your Mac.
Everything you expect from a serious text editor, in a fast native macOS app: multiple tabs, real find and replace, encoding detection, and autosave that survives a crash.
Open as many documents as you like in a single window, each in its own tab. Switch between them instantly instead of juggling separate windows.
Fast find and replace with persistent match highlighting, so every occurrence stays visible as you work through a document.
Automatic text-encoding detection opens files correctly whatever they are: UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1251, or ISO-8859-5, including non-Latin text such as Cyrillic.
Autosave keeps your work safe, and crash recovery restores anything unsaved automatically after a crash or force-quit. You never lose what you were writing.
Adjustable line numbers and word wrap on demand, so long lines and large files stay readable however you prefer to work.
Set your own font and zoom to whatever is comfortable. A clean, native macOS editor that simply gets out of your way.
This policy applies to the Legger macOS app and the kbis.dev/legger page.
Legger is a native macOS plain-text editor. It collects nothing about you and has no way to send your data anywhere. Everything you open, write, and save stays on your own Mac.
Legger collects no personal data of any kind. It requires no account, no sign-in, and no personal information to use. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to.
Legger has no network access capability at all. It cannot and does not send or receive any data over the internet, contact any server, or communicate with any third party. Nothing you write or open is ever transmitted anywhere.
Legger contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising of any kind, and includes no third-party SDKs. Nothing about how you use the app is recorded or reported.
Legger runs inside Apple's App Sandbox. The only files it can access are the ones you explicitly open or save through the system's standard Open and Save dialogs. Your files stay on your Mac and never leave your device.
Because Legger collects no data from anyone and requires no account, it is safe for users of any age, including children.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
